Triathlon clinic with Olympian Jason Wilson

 

In the interest of the development of the sport of triathlon, XO Multi-Sport Club hosted triathlon clinics with Jason Wilson, the Caribbean’s first English speaking representative to the Olympic Games (Rio 2016) for the sport of triathlon. The clinics, approved by the Trinidad and Tobago Triathlon Federation were made possible thanks to Dairy Dairy, Grace Kennedy and Gatorade.

 

Jason Wilson, a world ranked triathlete who represented Barbados at the 2016 Rio Olympic Games has a bachelor’s degree in Environmental Engineering from the University of Guelph and has been competing over the last 6 years as a professional triathlete. He has a wealth of experience having raced in the World Championships, Pan American, Commonwealth and Olympic Games. Jason has conducted several coaching clinics over the last three years and has prepared many athletes to compete in races from the Sprint to Ironman distances.

 

In attendance at the weekend’s clinics were most of the country's top junior and senior triathletes. Among the juniors were those who competed in the 2017 Junior CARIFTA triathlon championships including gold medalist Luke Ferreira. Among the seniors, national champions Jason Costelloe and Jenna Ross were there, Jenna will be representing Team TTO in the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games, Jenna is also the country's first ever triathlete to compete in the Ironman 70.3 World Championships which take place in South Africa in September 2018. Some of the other senior triathletes who attended include CARIFTA standouts Rachael Grosberg, Ayomide Gilbert-Semper, Jonathan Thompson, other CARIFTA triathletes, top Sprint and Olympic distances triathletes and triathletes who recently competed in Ironman 140.6 and Ironman 70.3 races.
