XO gives a helping hand to JBF

On the birthday of Noel Joseph, co-founder of the Just Because Foundation, the newly formed XO Multi-Sport club delivered on its commitment to host an annual charitable event. This year the beneficiary of the fundraiser was the Just Because Foundation (JBF) and a cheque for $16,500 was presented to Noel and Chevaugh Joseph by Derek Daniel, XO’s Club President. Inclusive of the money donated was a cheque from Solo Beverage Company for $1,500. But this was not all, courtesy Malabar Farms, XO was also able to make a food donation which was gratefully accepted and will be used at the Foundation’s dinner for their kids and parents.

The Just Because Foundation was selected by XO because of the outstanding work that the Foundation does in providing emotional, practical and social support for families of children with cancer. Co-founder Noel Joseph said "The JBF is very grateful for this significant and timely contribution toward our childhood cancer support projects. The XO Multi-Sport Club Is holistic in its approach to health and fitness so it's like receiving a donation from a partner in wellness. We extend best wishes to the XO team in their future endeavors."

XO Multi-Sport Club was formed in July 2014 and with a membership of almost 50 persons has done extremely well at local duathlon events as well as local and regional triathlon events. The club’s members actively participate and in the major events that the club has participated in to date, XO often has the largest number of participants from a club. The club is sponsored by Atlantic, Dannon, Great Grains, Dairy Dairy and Gatorade.

XO would like to thank its sponsors and all of those who assisted in making this year’s charity event a success.

THE XO CHARITIES

XO spreads some cheer in MAYARO

Our long ride to Mayaro ended with a charity drive. All  riders were asked to  make donations of food, clothing and toys. The Prime Minister Golf Charity Classic graciously donated five hampers. At the end of the ride the hampers and goodies collected were presented  to Ms. Deena Ali, who was responsible for distributing them to families in the community.

XO rides for CHARITY

XO Multi-Sport Club had its second annual long ride to Mayaro on November 20, 2016, this was also the club’s fundraising/charity event for the year. The day was a fantastic one overall, with almost 50 cyclists from XO, Jumbies Multi-Sport club, Central Spokes cycle club as well as a few unattached cyclists.

As our ride took place on the same day as UN's World Day of Remembrance for Road Traffic victims, Sheldon Waithe from “Share the Road” was invited to say a few words to the cyclists before the start of the ride to commemorate the day.

Supported by four police outriders, who did a fantastic job of ensuring everyone's safety, we made a safe journey to Mayaro with four stops along the way.

At the end of the ride all of the cyclists and support crew enjoyed a tasty meal, refreshments and the opportunity to soak the tired muscles in the sea or the pool. As a result of the GENEROUS contributions from the cyclists, Grace Kennedy and AS Brydens and Sons, XO was able to present approximately 55 hampers to Ms Deena Ali who later distributed the hampers to the families that required assistance in the Mayaro, Rio Claro and Guayaguarare areas.

At 6 am on Sunday November 12, 65 cyclists left from the Queen’s Park Oval for Mayaro, it marked the third year of XO Multi-Sport Club’s annual charity ride to Mayaro. Cyclists from Jumbies Multi-Sport Club, One-A-Week Multi-Sport Club, Slipstream and a few other guests along with host club XO made the journey in beautiful conditions. Each cyclist was asked to bring a food or stationary supply donation, these along with donations from Brydens, Dairy Dairy and Grace Kennedy afforded the club the opportunity to present 25 large food and stationary supply hampers to families in the Plum Mitan and Biche communities.

XO would lke to thank all of the cyclists who participated in its charity ride and its sponsors who generously donated to this charitable cause.

XO at the Margret Kistow Home

For 2019, XO Multi-Sport Club held it’s annual charity event at the Margaret Kistow Home in Malabar. Our club members spent the day painting 3 kids rooms and made generous donations of a refrigerator, a washing machine, fans, towels, curtain rods and assorted clothing and related items.

We could not have done this without the help and support of our generous sponsors; Subway, Gatorade, TATIL, Dairy Dairy, Adventure Royale, Post Cereals and ANSA Coatings who donated Penta paint. A huge thank you to XO members and their families who all helped and supported us on this day, we could not have done this without you!
